Ok so here's the thing about international travel: everyone panics about...

Ok so here’s the thing about international travel: everyone panics about the wrong stuff. People stress over which sim card to buy and forget to check if their passport’s even valid. True story: a friend of mine got turned away at check-in because her passport expired in 4 months, not 6. Airlines don’t care that it’s “still valid.” Most countries want 6 months left on it, minimum.

So instead of another generic “10 tips” list, here’s what actually trips people up.

Packing tips for international travel

International Travel Tips

Before You Book

Documents You Actually Need

Restrictions Worth Checking

Packing & Flight Stuff

Staying Safe

Before You Book

Don’t pick a destination just because it looked good on someone’s reel.
Sit down and think about who’s coming with you, what everyone’s budget is, and whether anyone needs a visa that takes 3 weeks to process. This stuff decides your destination more than any “top places to visit” list ever will.

Documents You Actually Need

Passport, obviously. But check the expiry date properly 6 months of validity left, not 6 months till it dies. Visa, if your destination needs one. Some countries also want proof you’ve got money for the trip, or a return ticket booked. Annoying, but check before you fly, not at the airport.

Travel insurance isn’t always compulsory, but skip it, and you’re gambling with a hospital bill in a currency you don’t understand. And copy everything. Photos on your phone, a set in your bag, one emailed to yourself. Redundant? Sure. Useful the one time you lose your bag? Also yes.

Restrictions Worth Checking

Entry rules change more than people expect: vaccination requirements, currency limits, random local rules nobody warns you about. Check your destination’s current requirements before you book anything, and check again a week before you fly.

Government travel advisory pages are your best bet here, not some forum post from 2019.

Packing & Flight Stuff

Get to the airport 3 hours early for international flights. Yes, even if your connecting flight is domestic. Check in online the night before — better seats, less queueing. Baggage rules are different everywhere, so check weight limits before you pack, not when you’re standing at the counter arguing with a scale.

Look at Top International Travel Honeymoon Destinations

Staying Safe

Register with your embassy before you go. Keep your hotel address and an emergency contact written down somewhere that isn’t just your phone. Learn “hello,” “thank you,” and “where’s the hospital” in the local language; it genuinely helps.

Split your cash and cards across two bags. And honestly, if something feels off, it probably is. Trust that over convenience.

FAQs

What are the best tips for traveling internationally?

Sort your documents early and check entry rules before you book. Most travel chaos comes from rushing, not bad luck.

What are the top 10 travel tips?

Valid passport, visa sorted, travel insurance, document copies, online check-in, early airport arrival, local currency, embassy registration, a few local phrases, and a backup plan if you lose your documents.

What are the 5 most important things to do before traveling?

Check your passport’s validity, sort your visa, get insurance, check entry restrictions, and photograph your documents.

What are 10 important safety rules when travelling?

Register with your embassy, keep offline copies of documents, split your cash, don’t flash valuables, know your hotel address, learn basic phrases, stay alert in crowds, use registered taxis, keep emergency numbers handy, and trust your gut.

Diwali at home is comfort. But step outside your doorstep and the festival transforms...

Diwali at home is comfort. But step outside your doorstep and the festival transforms into something far more vibrant. Across India, every region adds its own flavour to the Festival of Lights, turning ordinary streets into glowing galleries of joy.

If you’re ready to trade your balcony sparklers for an adventure, here are the destinations where Diwali isn’t just celebrated; it’s lived out loud, with all its warmth, sweetness, and crackling energy.

Places to Visit in India for Diwali:

Varanasi – Lamps on the Sacred River

Amritsar – The Golden Temple Aglow

Jaipur – A Royal Illumination

Udaipur – Romance on the Lakes

Delhi – The Capital’s Festive Beat

Goa – Beachside Bonfires and Effigies

Kolkata – Kali Puja and Creative Pandals

Varanasi – Lamps on the Sacred River

The ghats of Varanasi wear a million little flames during Diwali, each diya a silent prayer set afloat on the Ganges. The evening Ganga Aarti becomes even more intense, with fire, chants, and the scent of incense filling the air. Find a quiet spot near Assi Ghat to avoid the densest crowds, and simply watch the river mirror the shimmering city. It’s a spiritual experience that has drawn seekers for centuries, and it still feels just as profound.

Amritsar – The Golden Temple Aglow

The Harmandir Sahib bathed in golden lights and reflected in the sacred sarovar is one of India’s most breathtaking Diwali sights. This day also marks Bandi Chhor Divas for Sikhs, and the community kitchen serves warm, free meals to everyone regardless of background. The fireworks over the temple complex are joyful but never overwhelming, and the sense of shared humanity in the langar hall is genuinely moving. Come with an open heart and an empty stomach.

Jaipur – A Royal Illumination

In the Pink City, entire markets like Johari Bazaar compete to outshine each other with strings of lights and intricate lanterns. You’ll find thousands of handcrafted clay lamps shaped like elephants and peacocks, along with vibrant textiles and traditional jewellery. Head to a rooftop café near Hawa Mahal at dusk and watch Amer Fort twinkle in the distance. It’s a romantic, regal Diwali that feels plucked from a storybook.

Udaipur – Romance on the Lakes

Udaipur offers a quieter, more intimate version of the festival, where the City Palace and havelis drape themselves in soft lights that dance on Lake Pichola. A sunset boat ride reveals the old city looking twice as beautiful, its reflection broken only by floating diyas. The atmosphere is refined and unhurried—ideal for couples or anyone seeking a slower, more elegant celebration. Light marigold garlands and distant temple bells complete the picture.

Delhi – The Capital’s Festive Beat

Delhi’s Diwali is a full-sensory affair: the aroma of sugar syrup from sweet shops, the crackle of fireworks in colony parks, and the laughter of families gathering for puja. Ramlila performances across the city retell the story of Lord Rama with raw, amateur charm, and markets like Chandni Chowk overflow with last-minute shoppers.

It’s chaotic, loud, and deeply rooted in tradition, offering a true taste of North Indian festive spirit. Surrender to the madness and you’ll leave with a heart full of mithai and memories.

Goa – Beachside Bonfires and Effigies

In Goa, Diwali begins before dawn with the burning of towering Narakasura effigies, a dramatic reenactment of the demon’s defeat. After the morning spectacle, the mood shifts to a relaxed, seaside celebration where palm trees are wrapped in fairy lights and beach shacks serve festive treats.

It’s a unique blend of coastal calm and festive spirit, perfect for those who prefer sand between their toes instead of cracker smoke. Goa delivers Diwali with a gentle, salty breeze.

Kolkata – Kali Puja and Creative Pandals

While the rest of the country lights lamps for Lakshmi, Kolkata honours Goddess Kali with elaborate temporary temples called pandals. The artistry and creativity on display rival the city’s famous Durga Puja, with stunning idols, dramatic lighting, and the rhythmic beat of dhak drums.

The night is loud with devotion, fireworks, and community feasts, offering a distinctive Bengali take on the festival. It’s an electrifying, art-filled experience that leaves a lasting impression. At Emperor Traveline, we believe Diwali should be felt, not just observed. Our curated holiday packages place you at the heart of these celebrations, with local insights, comfortable stays, and the freedom to chase the light wherever it leads.

FAQs

Which place in India is famous for Diwali?

Varanasi and Amritsar are widely considered the most iconic. Varanasi for its floating diyas and powerful Ganga Aarti, and Amritsar for the Golden Temple’s mesmerising illumination and the spirit of community service that defines Bandi Chhor Divas.

Where should I go for a 3 day vacation in India?

Jaipur offers a perfect short break with illuminated bazaars, heritage forts, and rooftop dining. Udaipur is equally charming for a quieter, lake-kissed Diwali, while Delhi gives you a high-energy festive crash course in just three days.

Where is it less crowded during Diwali?

Total solitude is rare during the festival, but you can escape the worst crowds by staying in a homestay on Jaipur’s outskirts, choosing a calm Goan village, or visiting Udaipur’s quieter lakeside neighbourhoods. Avoid main markets during peak evening hours for a more peaceful experience.

Which state is best for Diwali?

It depends on your mood: Uttar Pradesh for Varanasi’s spiritual depth, Punjab for Amritsar’s golden serenity, Rajasthan for royal romantic lights, Goa for a beachy twist, West Bengal for Kolkata’s artistic Kali Puja, and Delhi for pure metropolitan festival energy. Each paints the festival in its own vivid colours.

Quick answer: The best time to visit Digha is winter, between October and February, when temperatures settle into a pleasant 14°C–26°C and the sea calms down enough for swimming, jet-skiing, and other water sports. March to June turns hot and humid, and July to September brings the monsoon with rough surf and heavy rain.

Digha is West Bengal’s best-known beach town, known for a long, flat, hard-packed coastline that feels almost endless at low tide. It’s about 185 km from Kolkata, roughly four hours by road, or under three hours on the Vande Bharat Express Train that started running in late 2025.

Digha still has its own charm here: the town turns green, the air clears between showers, and hotel prices drop. Keep your plans flexible, since day trips can get rained out.

If you haven’t visited Digha in the past couple of years, this is the biggest change. The Jagannath Temple, built as a replica of the original in Puri, opened on 30 April 2025 and has pulled in visitors by the millions within its first year.

Entry is free, and unlike the Puri temple, it welcomes visitors of every faith and nationality. The annual Rath Yatra procession, first held here in June 2025, already draws crowds even outside the winter season.

In short, Digha now sees tourists through the year, not just in winter, with extra spikes around festival dates.

Which is the off-season in Digha?
June to September is Digha’s off-season, when the monsoon brings heavy rain and rough seas. Water sports mostly pause, hotel rates drop, and beaches stay quieter, which is a fair trade-off if grey skies don’t bother you.

What is famous in Digha to buy?
Seashell and conch-shell jewellery, wooden showpieces, and cashew nuts are the classic buys, best picked up at Nehru Market or the New Digha beach market, where bargaining is normal.

Is Digha crowded now?
It depends on the season and the calendar. Winter weekends are still the busiest, while monsoon months stay quieter except around festivals. Since the Jagannath Temple opened, footfall has grown year-round, not just in winter, so it’s worth booking hotels ahead even in the off-season.

Picking the best time to visit Digha Beach: Quiet, budget-friendly days in the off-season, or the full winter buzz with clear skies and packed beaches.
Kodachadri is one of those places you don’t really hear about until someone who’s been there won’t stop talking about it. And once you go, you’ll get it. It’s tucked inside the Western Ghats and it genuinely makes you slow down which most of us desperately need.

Places to visit in or near Kodachadri:

At the Summit / On the Trek

Sarvajna Peetha (Shankara Peetham)

Hidlumane Falls

Ganesha Guha (Cave)

Gowri Theertha

Sunset & Sunrise Viewpoints

Top 7 Places to Visit in Karnataka

Nearby Attractions (Within 1-2 hours drive)

Kollur Mookambika Temple

Nagara Fort

Arasinagundi Falls

Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary

Sigandur Chowdeshwari Temple

Kunchikal Falls

The Kodachadri Peak is obviously the main draw. Endless green valleys, misty air, the works. However, the ride up is half the fun that involves the woods, a couple of streams, and “wait, how far is it?” moments. Many travelers make a pitstop at Hidlumane Falls while trekking upwards to catch a breath and cool off as the trail gets steep.

The Mookambika Temple located near Kollur combines a bit of meaning with the trek. So, if you enjoy that, go for it. The Sarvajna Peetha at the very top is small and quiet – it’s perfect for watching the sunrise or sunset stretch over the mountains. We often have such moments when we get the satisfaction we want from that experience.

Why do people keep going back?

It’s the combo trekking, a little spirituality, nature that still feels untouched. No massive crowds, no over-developed tourist mess. Just the Western Ghats doing its thing. The off-road jeep ride also deserves a shoutout. It’s not just transport, it’s basically its own experience.

Trek details

The trek is moderate, not a stroll, but nothing that’ll wreck you either. Around 12 to 14 km one way, takes about 4 to 6 hours depending on your pace. Forests, waterfalls, and some steep bits. Beginners with decent fitness can handle it, and you’ll feel properly accomplished at the top.

Jeep ride from Kollur

Not into trekking? The jeep ride is genuinely fun. It takes about 9 km, takes 1.5 to 2 hours one way, costs around ₹500 to ₹550 per person in a shared jeep. Bumpy, rugged, and you’ll probably be gripping the side at some point. In a good way.

Contact Emperor Traveline Now

Quick FAQs

What’s Kodachadri famous for? Trekking, viewpoints, waterfalls, and the spiritual pull near Kollur.

Is it worth visiting? Yes, without overthinking it.

How long is the trek? 12 to 14 km, about 4 to 6 hours one way.

Jeep ride cost? Around ₹500 to ₹550 from Kollur.

Kodachadri isn’t the kind of trip you just tick off a list. It stays with you a little. If you’re figuring out your next getaway, this one’s worth it.

If you are the kind of person who prefers not to be amongst the rat race of the urban bustle and prefers to be in a quaint village experiencing the serenity of nature, then Fagu is just the right place for you. It is located on the Hindustan Tibet road, and it is 23kms away from Shimla. You can access Fagu by driving through the Victory Tunnel towards the Chotta Shimla road, Himachal Pradesh.

Read about The Last Village of India located in Himachal Pradesh

You can go further by driving through another tunnel that leads you through a woody forest, offering you great views of the vast greenery. The forest is home to a large number of deodar and spruce trees that fill the air with their exotic aromas. On the way, you can take a detour to Wildflower Hall and Kufri to enjoy the spectacular views.

The Kufri bypass leads you to Fagu, which can be reached in half an hour. En route to Fagu, you can visit the Army Heritage Museum in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, which houses some of the rare documents and properties used by the army.

The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department owns a Peach Blossom accommodation that is clean and affordable. Fagu is populated with numerous Apple orchards and potato fields. It is enchanting to feel the crisp, clean winter air embracing your skin along with the sweet scent of apples.

The earthy flavor of the local cuisine comes from fresh potatoes harvested from the fields around Fagu. Roaming through the steep and curvy roads gives you a feeling of being very close to the Himalayan range. The village is neatly aligned with the manicured terraced fields that add more beauty to the topography.

The best month of the year to tour around Fagu is April. Heavy clothing is suggested during this month as the snow is really harsh and the entire place is covered by low clouds for most of the day. Though the climate is extremely cold, it is worth the attempt that allows you to admire the mountain ranges covered by the fresh falling snow. The snow-clad peaks refresh your mind while you stroll down the roads in the early hours of the morning and in the twilight.

Hiking is another pastime to stay close to the nature. The village is dotted with very few small shops selling only the essentials. Driving through the Fagu-Mashobra trail introduces you to the stunning natural landscapes and the valley down below.

Read about Eco Tourism Destinations in Himachal Pradesh

Fagu is conveniently located for easy access to other tourist spots in its surroundings like Narkanda, Mashobra, Kufri, Naldehra and Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Therefore, staying at Fagu for a couple of days can get you to all these places without spending too much on accommodation and also staying away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the places. Another interesting getaway is to take a quick excursion to Kothhai, the apple-growing heartland of Himachal Pradesh.

In a nutshell, Fagu is a great place to escape from the busy city life and plunge into the magic spread of tiny hamlets, luscious orchards and terraced fields.

Village holidays:

Another way for a quick getaway is to visit some of the quaint villages. This gives you a great opportunity to mingle with local people and enjoy their native meals and learn their exotic culture.

San Gimignano, Tuscany, Italy:

It is a small village nestled in the heart of Tuscany which is Italy’s wine country. It is medieval magic to move along the streets of this village. Enjoy local Tuscan red wine and homemade Italian pasta in the porch, watching the sunset over the silent farmlands.

Matera, Basilicata, Italy:

If you have an unbeatable love for architecture, then Matera is definitely a must see. You can’t afford to skip this wonder in the history of buildings. This is probably the only place to have so many cave homes that are directly carved into the rocks of the hills in that area. It is a famous site for Hollywood movies.

City holidays:

If you are a party maniac, then you must definitely go for the perfect city vacation to experience that adrenaline rush.

Quebec City, Canada:

Summer is a spectacular season in Quebec. The city comes alive with music and festivities everywhere. Innumerable street shops offer exotic delicacies at great prices. It is the time when music, dance, art, sports and competitions keep you entertaining throughout your holiday. Colorful fireworks and hot air balloon rides will definitely make your summer vacation much more interesting.

We have lots of amazingly bright ideas woven together to make your holidays worth reminiscing about in every fabric of your heart. While you plan to get soaked in the sun beside the Adriatic Sea, hold on to your adrenaline for some exciting tips we have to tell you before you pack your bags to Croatia.

For a first-time traveler, you would be eager to know about the top sights, beaches, and recommended highlights. There is plenty you can do to make your holidays active by indulging in scuba diving, rafting, Kayaking, fishing, rock climbing, or playing some golf. Croatia is becoming an emerging tourist destination. The country is associated with pebbles, National parks, Nature parks and over 6ooo km coastline.

!

Croatia climate

Due to its history, culture & warm temperature, Croatia is attracting tourist crowds every year. There is a temperate climate spanning the mountainous regions & the south side enjoys a quiet Mediterranean weather. Summers are usually hot and dry. Winters are mild and humid. Summer is the peak time for tourists.

Stay in Croatia

Selecting the right accommodation is very important to begin the tour on a pleasant note. You have family hotels, hostels, spa resorts, and you can get all the inside information you need if you are planning a trip. The prices of rooms are fairly reasonable and one can afford to have a comfortable stay in Croatia’s rentals and hostel rooms.

However, it is always best to plan your travel so that you can discover places that require a second visit. The locals are friendly and intriguing. The food is yummy to satisfy our taste buds. Croatian nights are splendid as there is a lot of sightseeing in the offing, which is one of the best ways to get recharged.

Getting around Croatia

Croatia has a simply fantastic bus system. The Croatian bus system runs on an intercity basis. This means that you will get to travel from one city to another based on the type of travel pass you have purchased. There are many options & you need to take some time out to plan your transportation. Moreover, buses connect cities & they are inexpensive, making them the most preferred mode of transport. However, for longer routes, it is advised to buy a ticket and get the seats allocated. Refer to the Croatia bus timetable for all details.

Best time to visit Croatia

May, June, and September are among the best months to tour Croatia. The temperature is pleasant and crowds are smaller. July and August are hotter and busier. Winters can be cold in some regions, while mountains may see snow. This country is mostly visited during the shoulder season. Last year, many spent it sleeping in their hometown, but this time? Many are craving something warmer, wilder, maybe a beach where the fireworks kiss the waves.

Places to go on New Year’s Eve

Goa, India

New York City, USA

Sydney, Australia

Paris, France

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Goa, India

Goa turns into a beach dream on New Year’s Eve. Anjuna and Baga beaches buzz with laughter and lights as waves roll in. Bonfires crackle, drawing folks for stories and dances, while fireworks burst like stars over the sea. Join the crowd at a lively party or hop on a boat for waveside cheers.

Grab spicy street eats like grilled corn or fresh fish, and let the warm night wrap you up. Goa is my pick for places to celebrate the New Year if you love sand, songs, and that easy joy to kick off the fresh start. What a way to toast the year ahead! Check out the Best place to celebrate New Year in India.

New York City, USA

Zoom across the ocean to New York. The streets buzz like a beehive. Times Square is the heart of it all. A giant shiny ball slides down a tall pole at midnight. Crowds shout “Ten! Nine! Eight!” till zero. Then, boom – confetti rains down like magic snow.

Everyone hugs and sings. If you like city energy, this is your spot for New Year’s celebrations. Grab hot dogs from a cart and watch the show. It’s the kind of New Year’s Eve party that sticks in your memory forever.

Stroll the wide Champs-Élysées street with hot chocolate in hand. Street musicians play jolly tunes.

For a special touch, book a New Year’s Eve dinner on a boat floating down the Seine River. Candles flicker, chefs serve crepes and cakes. It’s romantic and cozy – great for places to visit in the New Year if you love pretty lights and sweet treats.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Last stop: Brazil’s sunny Rio. Copacabana Beach turns into a sea of white clothes – folks wear them for good luck. Millions squeeze in for samba beats that make your hips wiggle. Drums thump, dancers spin, and fireworks paint the sky red and gold.
Don’t forget other cool spots! Bangkok has rooftop dances with city lights below. Edinburgh mixes old castle fireworks with street games. Dubai lights up its super-tall tower like a giant sparkler. Some kids pick quiet places to visit in the New Year, like snowy mountains or hidden coves, to jot down New Year’s resolutions.

!
