It has lots to see and do whether you\u2019re looking for a romantic getaway, family vacation, or a weekend of exploration.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the top things to do when you visit Jekyll Island, Georgia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.emperortraveline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Jekyll-Island-Georgia.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2875\" src=\"http:\/\/www.emperortraveline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Jekyll-Island-Georgia-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Jekyll Island, Georgia\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Visit Georgia Sea Turtle Center \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island you can watch experienced veterinarians treat injured sea turtles that are brought in for rehabilitation. The center is open for visitors daily from 9 am to 5 pm. There are programmes for all ages. The Tidelands Nature Center is another nice place for nature lovers. It offers tours and activities for kids and has a small collection of animals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Take Photos at Driftwood Beach<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Because of their unusual textures and twisting shapes these downed oak trees have been photographed countless times. It has a haunting beauty and an eerie vibe and is located on the northern end of the Island. Get amazing selfies as you stroll along the beach at sunrise or sunset.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learn About Island History at the Jekyll Island Museum<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To start your visit to the island Jekyll Island Museum is a great place. Here you can also learn more about the Island. And the entry is absolutely free. To get to know about the Island\u2019s past there are several photographs and artefacts. You can book a tour on the historic tram to see the various parts of the island and learn more about the island\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Check Out the Architecture of Faith Chapel<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The architecture of Faith Chapel, built in 1904, is definitely worth seeing. With animal carvings, Armstrong stained glass windows, and gargoyles the chapel\u2019s architectural design is stunning. The chapel is open to visitors daily between 8 am and 10 am.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Play a Game of Golf<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Jekyll Island there are four lovely golf courses. The Pine Lakes Course, the historic nine-hole Great Dunes Course, Oleander Course, and more are here for you to play.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kayak through the Marshes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>See a wide variety of animal species in the marshlands bordering this small Georgia Island. You can rent a kayak and paddle your way through the marshes to experience the nature. You can bring your boat out to try your luck if you\u2019re into fishing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>See the Horton House Ruins<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Horton House used to be the centre of plantation life on Jekyll Island and it is a historical site. Built by Major William Horton, the ruins of the house still remains and the public can visit the place daily without any entry fee. To learn more about the site you can read the historical plaques and visit the DuBignon Cemetery on the other side of the road as well as markets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Splash Around at Summer Waves Water Park<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For families water parks are always a favourite summer activity. The Summer Waves Water Park on Jekyll Island has a lot of attractions like Shark Tooth Cove for young kids, the wave pool, a lazy river, and the splash zone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eat Seafood at the Island Restaurants<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To enjoy a seafood dinner Jekyll Island is an excellent place. Courtyard at Crane, Zachry\u2019s Riverhouse, Love Shack BBQ Shrimp &amp; Yardbird, and Driftwood Bistro, are some of the top seafood restaurants to check out here.
