“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” – Saint Augustine

These lines inspired us to start our travel operations back in 1980, first with domestic travel programme. In the beginning of the 21st century, there was much hype about the phenomenal growth of India’s economic and scientific prowess; thanks to the vision of former President of India and one of the country’s brightest scientific minds, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. The promising hopes of the year 2020 reverberated with the youth of India due to Dr.Kalam tagging it, talking and writing endlessly about it and even publishing a book for the inspired youth. He even envisaged the role of travel and tourism in bringing the world together.

Come 2020, the world is witnessing a world without travel. The international borders have been insulated, people isolated and quarantined, hopes shattered, dreams broken and lives consumed. As the world is gearing itself to adjust to the ‘new’ normal at least for the next six months, it will undergo waves of transformation hitherto never seen.

Travel and tourism is the most affected sector by a long way. Not to mention the education, business and medical sectors which depend on travel for operation and efficiency. For most of us fear will be the single most demotivating factor that can thwart the prospect of travelling as COVID-19 will continue to haunt air travellers especially for a good couple of years from now. How we, as travellers, cope with our unremitting fears and reservations is a challenge within.

With mental health levels of people going from bad to worse during the lock down period, travel is the only known panacea that can alleviate people out of mental issues like depression, anxiety, isolation, loneliness, restlessness and other unwarranted fears due to COVID-19 pandemic.

For the first time ever, We, at Emperor Traveline, advises you not to travel! And that’s the biggest irony. And if Government regulations are anything to go, you need to stay safe indoors. We are in the midst of a global crisis owing to the outbreak of COVID-19 or Novel Corona Virus, which has transformed the world, as we are approaching towards a ‘new’ normal. The adverse impacts of the COVID-19 are unprecedented as the world is waking up to the news of rising deaths and increasing number of COVID -19 positive-tested patients every single day.

The business climate is gloomy and the worst is anticipated in the days to come as every Government has imposed nation-wide lockouts in almost every part of the world. Videos surfacing of wild creatures roaming scot free on the roads in many parts of the world are doing the rounds online. Several reports have emerged that mentions the role of the ongoing virus crisis in improving air quality and stalling climate change momentum.

Furthermore, emissions from factories, air pollution due to vehicles, and water pollution caused by irresponsible industries have gone down considerably. We cannot but only concede that every crisis, big or small, presents its own challenges, threats as well as ample opportunities.

The uncertainty of COVID-19 is bewildering, to stay the least. Even more baffling is the fact that there is no proven cure or tested vaccine available to curb the spread of the virus. However, what is more heartening to see is that almost every government has preferred to save precious human lives over the falling economy, which again can put many lives at stake later.

We, at Emperor Traveline, have completely adhered to the guidelines and modalities of the regulations laid down by both the State and Central Government during this crisis. We have also ensured that none of our staff or team member has to undergo financial grind. Let’s all pray sincerely for the safety of the world and for normalcy to restore at the earliest.

     1. Experimenta Heilbronn

Experimenta Science Center is an interactive learning centre for children. It is spread across 4 themed zones in a distinctive brick warehouse building. Children will enjoy the activities at this place. It is a great place, packed with popular science demo stations and quite a few tasks.

     2. Church of St. Kilian (Kilianskirche)

Constructed from Heilbronner sand stone it is a Gothic hall church, whose origin dates back to the 11th century. This church is beautiful, inside out. And the most unusual feature is the exquisitely-carved Hans Seyffer wooden alter.

     3. Astronomical Clock

It is an ultimate showpiece. The restoration of the astronomical clock, which is nearly 500 years old, and the whole building was done in 1944 after the flattening of Heilbron. It is a marvel when it chimes — the hour, figures, rams and cockerel all animated in all its glory.

     4. Pfuhlpark

Here can walk in the summer or even winter on flat paths comfortably. There is a playground for children. The great bustard Lake is nearby with a horse-riding centre. The pillow park is accessible by light rail.

     5. Wertwiesenpark

The Wertwiesenpark is right along the Neckar River. It is the best place to have picnics, or play soccer as there are massive amounts of grassy area. Here you can also have BBQs. There is a great play area for the kids with water fountains, toys, massive climbing rope mountain and more. There is also a small golf course, which is not very expensive, and a giant pool area.

     6. Stadtgalerie Heilbronn

The shopping mall in Stadtgalerie Heilbronn is a must visit. It is small but you get to eat a variety of food here.

      7. Trappenseeschlosschen

Trappenseeschlosschen is a great place to stroll around the little lake or walk to the nearby park and playground. In the summer months there is also a great beer garden with pretty good food and beer. Just across the street is the entrance to a nice hiking trail that goes out into the woods with a nice loop with some wood sculptures on the loop back. It is a great peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the downtown.

     8. Botanischen Obstgarten

You can go for cycling trip through vineyards. It is an Ideal place to be in summer when the apple orchards will be in full bloom.

     9. South German Railway Museum

The railway museum was founded in 1998. Here you can ride on the historical steam locomotives. If you love history this is a must visit. The old buildings and railroads will evoke nostalgia. It also provides a lot of photo opportunities.

     10. Haus der Stadtgeschichte

This museum tells the history of Heilbronn from medieval times to the present. Even if you don’t know German you can still go through the museum and look at pictures and get some feel for the history. There is no entry fee. There is also a theatre that runs films about the town’s history in German. If you know only English you can request films in English.

For tourists visiting West Bengal, Digha beach is a major attraction. What makes Digha beach unique is that it is spread over a large area and it is hard and flat. It is one of the widest beaches all over the world.

In Digha summers are hot with the temperature rising up to 37 degrees Celsius. Since it is really hot, summers are not the best time to visit Digha. Bringing relief from soaring temperature the monsoon hits the city in July. However, tourists stay away during the monsoon because of the high level of humidity. Mercury starts dropping from October onwards. The ideal time to enjoy the beauty of beaches in Digha is the winters and travellers come here in hoards.

Summer (March – June): The mercury starts soaring from March onwards. However, the temperature never crosses 40 degree Celsius. Even though the weather will be hot in summer months, the cool sea breeze brings a little comfort. However, during this season it is not advisable to visit Digha as you will not be able to relax and enjoy on the beaches in the scorching heat.

Monsoon (July – September): From July the monsoon starts and it will go on till September. The mercury level dips in this season and Digha witness average rainfall. In monsoon you can visit the place but the humidity is high and during monsoon not many tourists prefer to plan a trip here.

Winter (October – February): The winter season is witnessed in Digha from October to February. The temperature ranges between 3 to 24 degrees Celsius. The best time to visit Digha is winter as the weather is pleasantly cool. You can enjoy swimming, surfing, scuba-diving, jet-skiing and all other beach activities. Make sure to book your hotels in advance if you are planning to visit the place during this season because there will be rush as many tourists prefer winters.

You would also be able to see the famous Durga Puja of Bengal if you plan a trip to Digha around the month of October.

Other Attractions

New Digha

New Digha is the new attractive town. Apart from some of the best hotels and beaches, there is also the Science Centre, which was established by the National Council of Science Museums. It is a major tourist attraction. To measure the height of tourists individually there is a fun glass in the centre.

There are facilities for boat riding in the small lake and park in New Digha. There is also a snake farm.

Shankarpur

Shankarpur beach is one of the other recent discoveries. It is 14 km away from Digha and has several hotels. Tourists also visit the Shankarpur Fishing Harbour Project on this beach.

Junput

Another beach resort is Junput. But only when the tide ebbs the beach gets exposed. It is an unspoilt beach that lies 40 km away from Digha beach. Buses ply from Digha beach to Junput regularly.

On for a romantic pre-baby holiday or need to grapple with a vital business trip? Whatever be the situation, the very thought of going on a trip while pregnant can be scary. But there, there – fasten your seat belt and you can still travel comfortably and safely by taking to heart the simple tips given below.

There are three things that pop up when you decide whether or not to travel abroad during pregnancy – medical history, any increased risks involved and antenatal checks.

It is important that you discuss any complications related to your pregnancy or health issues with your doctor prior to chalking out a travel plan, as in some cases it may be not advisable to travel at all. In case of high risk pregnancies, appropriate medical clearance should be sought before travel.

When it comes to planning your trip, make it around your second trimester. With nausea and tiredness more common in the first trimester (week 1-12), there is the highest risk of miscarriage. In the third trimester week (week 29-40), women are more prone to pregnancy induced conditions. Therefore, the second trimester week (13-28) is the period when the preterm labour or the risk of miscarriage is lower.

Pregnant women should avoid travelling to countries where there is high risk of malaria, dengue or other mosquito-transmitted diseases. Pregnant women are more vulnerable to malaria, which is a highly serious condition associated with premature delivery, miscarriage, low birth weight and even death.

Whatever be the trimester period or travel destination, make sure you talk with your doctor or midwife before booking your trip. It is advisable to bring an approval note, delivery due date, medication details you’re currently on, and any risks or complications to avoid details, particularly if you are over 28 weeks. Note that there are some airlines, cruise and boat services which require your doctor to sign a pre-written precaution note. It is also handy to carry your pregnancy note along with any insurance documents, relevant medical records, prescriptions and medications you are in.

When it comes to your travel insurance, ensure you are covered for eventualities like premature birth; labour medical care; new-born baby care and cost of change of return trip date, if any.

Check all the details of the nearest hospital location, healthcare facilities and emergency numbers, just in case, especially if you are travelling abroad. It is also important to keep yourself really comfy. Drink plenty of water and avoid aerated drinks, and too much of alcohol and caffeine. If you are flying, going for an aisle seat will enhance mobility. Wearing loose clothes and comfortable footwear will ensure smooth travel.

Do some exercises and take sufficient breaks when you are pregnant and 6 weeks afterwards, as you would be prone to DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis). In the case of DVT, go for a heparin shot only on the advice of a qualified doctor. Take regular walks around the plane. Doing in-seats exercise every half an hour and wearing the correct type and size of graduated elastic compression stockings are a must-to-do, especially, during air travel.

Once at your destination, you should be selective and rather sensible about what you eat. Taking bottled water may protect you from causing stomach disorder and diarrhoea. Avoiding foods that may have adverse effects is necessary, and you can seek the assistance of a midwife to know about such foods. If you fall ill, keep yourself hydrated, and continue eating for your baby’s health, even if you aren’t hungry.

Keep physically active and ensure you put your feet up and schedule regular breaks. Relax and don’t involve in any risky tasks or activities. Avoid using thermal pools, steam rooms and saunas. In case of extreme weather conditions, stay indoors, and, if at all, you need to go out, use a suitable high factor sun cream as and when required.

Make a note of all the things you have just read, and prepare a quick checklist of must-to-do before planning your next trip, in case, when you are pregnant. Rest assured, have a great trip and awesome fun!

Picking the right destination is very important while travelling with toddlers, tweens, and teens.

Kids are quite impatient so the trick is to choose destinations that will arouse their curiosity. Places with inspiring history, animals and those that offer hands-on activities are best suited for kids.

Here are a few travel hotspots in the U.S. and Europe that won’t break your bank.

WASHINGTON, DC
The National Mall in D.C. is a must visit. But how about riding in a boat on wheels? Take D.C. duck tour (90 minutes), and experience both land and sea. It will take you to the history-packed National Mall, which covers the Capitol building, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Smithsonian museums, and then go for a scenic river trip.

COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG, VA
Everyone loves to play dress-up. A stash of old-timey accessories awaits you at the Great Hopes Plantation, where the original 1700s farm has been recreated. Wearing mop caps (for girls) and hats (for boys) and other costumes kids can perform 18th century household chores in the field.

LONDON
London is associated with mystery and discovery, thanks to a number of classics based in this city. And the city doesn’t disappoint. Along the muddy banks of the River Thames you can go on two-hour trawls. The Tower of London is an unforgettable experience for young history buffs. Also, take a Yeoman Warder tour, which is filled with hair-raising adventures!

SAN DIEGO
The San Diego Zoo with more than 5,000 rare and endangered animals is one of the most diverse in America. The Polar Bear Plunge is the highlight of the zoo. You can burrow into a snow den, climb in the cockpit of a helicopter that was used on actual Arctic explorations, and let the bears sniff you through the wire mesh from the Experience Wall. Your kids can also interact with Dolphins, enjoy thrilling rides, watch Shark Encounters and the parks legendary sea mammal shows.

BERLIN
Berlin has a vibrant art and food scene. You can tour the entire city on bikes with rear baskets which are available on rent. Even the kids can get a set of wheels, with child seats and trailers, and helmets for all. You can also visit the 168-year- old Zoological Garden, Germany’s first zoo and watch zoo keepers feeding pandas and penguins.

NIAGARA FALLS, NY
The Cave of the Winds tour will be a delightful experience for the kids. To reach the Niagara Gorge you will have to take an elevator 175 feet down and stand on the Hurricane Deck, where the water from 181-foot Bridal Veil Falls will drench you with the tropical- storm-like spray.

BARCELONA
Barcelona has a made-for- children, fairytale quality about it. And those who have visited the city will vouch for it. One of the most popular attractions is La Sagrada Família, the basilica built by the famous architect Antoni Gaudí. You can visit Museu Picasso, in the La Ribera neighbourhood, among other delightful things.

Visa rules and regulations differ from country to country. Here are the basics of how to get a visa.

What Is a Visa?

A document issued by a foreign country, which allows you to travel there is a Visa.

Types of Visas

Depending on your purpose of travel there are several types of visas issued. You can get visas for study, tourism, work, business, or research purposes.

Electronic Visa – An online version of your visa available prior to your trip

Visa on Arrival – When you arrive you get visa at the airport or border

Pre-approved Visa – The visa that is applied before you travel

In this article we discuss pre-approved visa as that is something most people who are travelling abroad on a holiday need.

Documents Required

To apply for a visa based on the territory you are visiting you need to furnish a few or all of the following documents.

Passport and photos
Employment status and proof of funds
Letters of invitation/sponsors

Vaccination requirements (not all countries ask for this)

Travel insurance

It is advisable to visit the websites to know the list of documents required to apply for a visa as different embassies/consulates have different requirements. You can proceed further once all your documents are in order as listed on the embassy/consulate’s website.

Scheduling an Appointment for Interview

To go ahead with the visa application process you need to appear at the nearest consulate/embassy. Countries like the US are quite strict with their interviews. Before appearing for the interview you need to schedule an appointment with the nearest consulate/embassy.

Sending Passport and Other Documents

You need to visit the consulate/embassy for stamping the visa if you apply for a pre-approved visa. You will have to either visit that city or send your documents by post if the embassy/consulate is not in your city and is far away. It may take between a few days to several weeks for the visa to be issued once you send the passport and documents to the concerned embassy/consulate.

Visa Services

You can avail the visa services of agencies that specialize in visa applications if you find the procedure too cumbersome. They assist you with gathering all the necessary documents and procuring a visa.

After procuring Visa what next?

Ensure that it is free from factual errors. Check your name, passport number, date of birth, number of entries, validity dates, and other information. Opt for comprehensive travel insurance, once your visa is procured, to be on the safer side and enjoy your trip!
